There are five phases of sleep: stages 1, 2, 3, 4 and rapid eye movement (REM). How you feel when you wake, either refreshed or tired, depends not just on the quantity of sleep you get (the number of hours) but the quality. In many cases, it is better to focus on improving your sleep quality first.
